 Baulking, Bunching…

(Inspired by an old image of Mousehole, Cornwall…)



Beached vessels’ gunwales carelessly loll

Like bathers but not quite beauties;

Hulls bunched, hardly in line

As they await high-tide and a resumption of duties…


Lurched vessels creak, masts drum

Like protectors of the harsh shore, baulking;

Hulls hunched, comically in line

As if awaiting the dreaded resumption of caulking…

The vessels look almost like rather plump Victorian ‘bathing beauties’…
