THURLESTONE, DEVON. My poem: HEAVYWEIGHT BEACH WRESTLING... (POETRY, BEACH, ENGLAND...)

 Heavyweight Beach Wrestling…

(Thurlestone, Devon…)



Gargantuan wrestlers cling

To upper extremities,

As their bulks flounder in sodden sand.

Dark, lapping waves flail at immense calves

And their struggle continues for eternity…


Colossal ape hunches 

With sheer exertion,

As its mass lurches in saturated stand.

Light, gripping eddies ebb around mammoth form

And its trial persists amid apprehension…

Thurlestone Rock, which from behind looked remarkably ape-like but the door-like hole through the weathered rock reminded me of two huge wrestlers, pushing forever…
