HOLLY BLUE & THE ANKLE... (My new poem about a Holly Blue butterfly...)

 Holly Blue & The Ankle…

It was a physical morning working in the garden, toiling and  aching

My back. I had been lifting and bagging up the detritus from the destruction

Caused by a charged hedge trimmer. And as I was patiently raking

More of the same, I spotted a small butterfly, its colour a distraction.

It skittered and flickered about the camellia then upon my ankle it became attached

And remained there for several minutes, although I felt nothing of its presence.

Somehow I felt enchanted and secretly pleasured and touched as I watched,

Before the Holly Blue took flight again, soaring high beyond a grim wooden fence…
