Misty Mousehole’s Morning Mesmerisation…
Couldn’t see St Michael’s Mount and even St Clement’s Isle was a mere
Phantom, as a Mounts Bay mist befuddled the horizon and melded with a grey
Irritation of ocean.
It was dry however as the early morning visibility paled small vessels to sheer
Gossamers against a weak, yet simmering tide which crept into the bay
With a minimum of motion…
An oystercatcher busied itself upon the sea-wall but soon took flight,
Leaving me to share the stark path with rock pipits in the eerie, curious
Isolated silence.
Then, two seals became visible, lounging as if floating in plain sight,
Stretching, turning, huddling and balancing upon a small flat rock, rather precarious
And an illusion, in essence…

16th June 2026…
Early morning, a mist over Mounts Bay and I was surprised to see a single oystercatcher on the sea wall, the usual rock pipits and then a couple of seals, seemingly relaxing on the sea’s surface near a shrouded St Clement’s Island…
The rock they lay upon was barely visible…
It was all quite mesmerising…
