WATCHING THE SUN ON THE BAY... (My new poem about MOUSEHOLE, CORNWALL...)

Watching The Sun On The Bay…

Early morning and a blue sky mottled white by small clouds

Was lit by welcomed warm June sunshine over Mounts Bay.

The sea wall, dry and stark above a receding tide,

Revealed a plethora of cruel, rocky outcrops lying in wait

And I sat upon a step to take in the ocean and the sun, bright within its shrouds…

A seal lounged upon St Clement’s Island, its head raised

As a gull flew busily past and the tide’s white spray danced nearby.

Along the rugged sea wall a rock pipit perched and posed

For my eager camera, eyes alert, its call shrill before it dropped to the shore,

As I tarried upon the step, relishing the ocean and feeling inexorably amazed…
