MATCH PREVIEW: GORNAL v COVENTRY COLLIERY, Wombourne Leisure Centre, 4th May, 2pm kick-off...

So, a first ever visit for me tomorrow afternoon to Gornal's Wombourne Leisure Centre ground for what should be a memorable fixture for Coventry Colliery...

Colliery will be receiving the trophy for winning the Capelli Midland League Division 3 and their deserving manager Rhys Lyons must be a proud man...

Four matches during the last week has seen the Hawkesmill based Colliery outfit rise to the top of League 3 and they won the title on Thursday evening with a 3-2 home victory against their closest challengers Kenilworth Sporting...

Sporting currently lie third in the league but could snatch second spot and promotion from long time leaders Solihull Youth Academy tomorrow afternoon with an away win against Leamington Hibernian...

The busy week for Colliery began after I had seen them win 2-4 at AFC Balsall but I was then on holiday for a week in Northumberland.

A 1-6 win at Walsall Wood, courtesy of goals by Solomon Agyemca (2), Jacob Dodds and an Alex Davies hat-trick was followed by a 4-1 home success v AFC Balsall, the goals being scored by Cam Welch, Dodds and a brace this time from Davies.

Next came the title decider on Thursday evening at Hawkesmill, as goals by the incomparable Jean Dakouri, leading goalscorer Ty Wilson and Joe Wright secured an important 3-2 victory and Coventry's subsequent confirmation as champions.

TY WILSON...

GENTLE JEAN DAKOURI...

Yesterday, a 3-8 away win at AFC Birmingham was achieved by a Sean Kavanagh hat-trick and a goal each from Dodds, Joe Wynne, Josh Low, Dave Freeman and Jamie Tiff...

CALLUM REGAN WEARS THE SKIPPER'S ARMBAND...

All told, Colliery have won 23 of 27 games this term, drawing 3 and losing just 1, whilst the team has netted 97 goals but conceded just 19, so a shout out to the defence and goalminder Nathan Pearce...

The goal difference is currently a remarkable +78 and the accumulation of 72 points has been impressive...

Ty Wilson has scored 39 of his team's goals (according to the FullTime website's statistics), not too closely followed by Bryan Badu-Wa-Badu with 8...

Gornal currently lie 11th of 15 teams in the standings, having won 7, drawn 4 and lost 15 of their 26 matches. They have a goal difference of -16, having scored 50 and conceded 66, whilst their points total is 25...

Leading scorers for Gornal are Sameer Arshad with 21 and Baba Mohammed with 10...
